Inter snare Knasmüllner
An up-and-coming Austrian footballer has joined 2010 UEFA Champions League winners Inter.Christoph Knasmüllners agent Otto Hauptmann said today (Thurs) that the midfielders current club Bayern Munich had agreed with the Italian giants on a transfer.Knasmüllner, who joined the German Bundesliga champions from the youth department of Austrian Bundesliga Austria Vienna in 2008, will undergo medical checks in Milan on Monday. The Under-21s national team ace is expected to sign a three-year deal with the side managed by former Brazil star Leonardo.Hauptmann stressed that Inter do not plan to pass Knasmüllner on to league rivals or lower league sides in loan deals but help him make it in their senior squad.Knasmüllner caused a stir by stressing in interviews with Austrian sport newspapers some weeks ago that he is “done with Bayern”. The midfielder said at that time his agent was considering offers of “some top Italian sides”.The transfer creates memories of Marko Arnautovic’s move from Dutch club Twente Enschede to Inter in what developed into a doomed spell with little match practice. The Austrian national team striker joined struggling German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen for around seven million Euros last summer.Meanwhile, Austrian Bundesliga title-holders Red Bull Salzburg agreed with striker Robin Nelisse over a cancellation of his contract which would have expired in June. The 31-year-old Dutchman scored 13 times in 40 matches since he joined the three-time Bundesliga champs in 2008. Nelisse looks back on several injury-stricken months. The former FC Utrecht ace refused to say whether he has already found a new club.Red Bull are currently in third in the 10-team Bundesliga. Match action in the league will continue on the weekend of 12 February when the Bulls are set to clash with newly promoted Wacker Innsbruck. The Austrian Bundesliga table after 19 rounds:SV Ried, 37 pointsSturm Graz, 33Red Bull Salzburg, 33Austria Vienna, 32Rapid Vienna, 30Magna Wiener Neustadt, 28Wacker Innsbruck, 26Kapfenberg, 23SV Mattersburg, 12LASK Linz, 10
