Hunter seriously injured by ‘friendly fire’

A 48-year-old man is fighting for his life after he was shot by another hunter during a hare hunt in Upper Austria on Saturday.The hunter from Mistelbach in Lower Austria was hospitalised in Linz after the incident at the hunting outing near Vorderweißenbach in Upper Austria’s Urfahr-Umgebung district.He underwent emergency surgery on the same day after being hit in the neck and the stomach, doctors said today (Mon). The hunter who fired the shots may face grievous bodily harm charges, according to local police.Earlier this year, a 40-year-old hunter from Deutschkreutz, Burgenland, was injured when his rifle went off as he put it on his car’s passenger seat. The man managed to call an ambulance himself. He made a full recovery.
