Woman ski tourer rescued with rope from chopper after fall

A Lower Austrian ski tourer was rescued with a rope via helicopter after falling 250 metres at a steep snow-covered area in the Dachstein region today (Tues).The injured 42-year-old woman was hospitalised in Schladming, Styria, rescue operation group ÖAMTC said.Local officials said the woman – who was on a ski tour with her husband – failed to hold on to a safety rope after slipping on an icy surface before she slid around 250 metres down a steep snowy area. Her husband called rescuers after providing first aid.The incident comes just one day after a German, 41, got away with minor injuries after getting stuck head first in a crevasse on the Venedigerscharte glacier in East Tyrol.
