Cineplexx Mattersburg to open this Friday

A new Cineplexx cinema is to open in Matterburg, Burgenland, this Friday.Managers said the cinema – the 29th of the Cineplexx branch in Austria – will feature five halls with 700 seats overall. All screens would be 3D-ready, it was announced.Construction of the complex cost around four million Euros.Andrea Zänglein, head of the union of cinema managers in the province and boss of Stadtkino Eisenstadt, admitted to worries over what the new rival would mean for visitor figures at smaller cinemas.The 3D animated movie “Drachenzähmen leicht gemacht” (How to Train Your Dragon) will be the first movie to be screened at the Mattersburg Cineplexx when it opens its doors on Friday.Meanwhile, Cineplexx Austria chiefs said they would continue to screen live opera performances by New York’s Metropolitan Opera next year due to massive demand.Opera highlights such as “Hamlet” or “Simon Boccanegra” will be screened in high definition at seven Austrian cinemas.
