Hiker hospitalised after cow attack

A woman from Germany suffered serious injuries when a group of holidaymakers were attacked by a herd of cows.

The 10-member group of vacationers told police they tried to walk past the heifers on a pasture near St. Nikolai in Styria’s Liezen district when the cows pounced on them yesterday (Weds). The tourists claimed they unleashed their three dogs only after the cows started to attack them.

Most of the hikers got away unharmed, while some of them sustained bruises. A 49-year-old woman suffered fractures in the incident. She was airlifted to a hospital in Schladming.
