Boy hit by 250-kilo slab
An eight-year-old boy is fighting for his life after he was hit by a heavy marble plate yesterday (Thurs).Nikola Vasic suffered serious injuries when the 250-kilo object fell on his head in the hallway of a housing estate in Vienna-Simmering.Police said they are investigating over negligent bodily harm since the panel was just resting against a wall. Officers said workers who are currently carrying out renovation work at the estate should have secured the heavy object properly.Vasic, who was born in Vienna to a Serbian family, underwent surgery at the SMZ Ost Clinic. Doctors refused to give out any information on his condition today.The incident occurred just weeks after a 25-year-old construction worker was killed by a falling concrete panel at a building site in Viennas Floridsdorf district. Isar K. was already dead when an ambulance arrived.
