Worker’s head crushed by hydraulic lift

A 29-year-old worker suffered severe injuries when his head was squeezed between a crash barrier and a hoist this morning (Thurs).The accident occurred on the A2 southern motorway near Techelsberg in Carinthia. Police assume that a technical error with the hydraulic lift was the reason for the incident. The injured road construction worker – a resident of Salzburg’s Tamsweg region – was airlifted to the Emergency Clinic in Klagenfurt.Earlier this week, a 44-year-old worker from Wolfsberg in Carinthia died instantly after falling 32 metres to the ground from a platform when he lost his balance. The man was carrying out maintenance work at a bridge pillar at Salzburg’s A10 Tauern motorway near Flachau when he lost his balance.
