Fritzl house ‘will be razed next spring’

The former residence of incest monster Josef Fritzl will be torn down in spring 2011, it has been claimed.Newspapers report today (Tues) that Amstetten City Hall has granted liquidator Walter Anzböck’s request to have the house in 40 Ybbs Street demolished within the next few months. Anzböck initially planned to sell the property to financially support the incest offender’s victims – but decided to have it torn down after failing to find an investor. Police are expected to try to protect the destruction of the building from onlookers and cameras. It is still unclear what will happen with the estate as it seems unlikely anyone has interest to move in to flats which could possibly be built at the site. The Greens’ local branch suggested the setting up of a domestic violence awareness centre at the estate.Fritzl kept his own daughter Elisabeth as a sex slave in a self-built basement under the house. The 75-year-old incinerated the body of one of the seven children she gave birth to after the boy began showing signs of breathing complications. The incest drama emerged in 2008. Fritzl was sentenced to life behind bars last year. He is imprisoned in Stein jail in Krems.
