Kitzbühel jeweller hit by €250,000 heist

Watches worth a quarter of a million Euros were stolen from a jeweller in a spectacular break-in on Christmas Day (Saturday), police said today (Mon).The unidentified criminals made off with 25 watches worth an overall 250,000 Euros in the break-in at a shop in the town centre of Kitzbühel, a posh Tyrolean ski resort.The burglary occurred around 5.45am in the morning and did not take longer than one minute, according to local officials who are still investigating the incident. The robbers, who opened the shop’s door with special tools, managed to leave before police arrived at the jeweller in the town’s pedestrian area a few minutes later.Investigators are currently examining footage of the store’s private CCTV system.Police in Carinthia are meanwhile still looking for four men who managed to escape after grabbing dozens of precious items during an armed hold-up at a jeweller in Klagenfurt three weeks ago.
