Eagle-eyed witness saves buried ski tourer’s life

A 39-year-old Tyrolean ski tourer had a lucky escape after being dragged 150 metres by an avalanche in the province’s Axamer Lizum ski resort.Local officials said today (Mon) the man was rescued after he managed to stick out his head in yesterday’s incidence.Another ski tourer walking up a different mountain spotted the man’s head after watching the avalanche.He was brought to safety by a team of the provincial mountain rescue.Meanwhile a Styrian ski instructor is fighting for his life after he was dragged 250 metres by an avalanche in an off-piste area near Schröcken, Vorarlberg, one day earlier.
