Jantscher linked with Borussia Mönchengladbach move

Sturm Graz star Jakob Jantscher is on the wish list of German Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach, a sports newspaper has claimed.German weekly kicker reports in its new edition that club Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Michael Frontzeck had set his sights on the midfielder. The national team ace’s contract with Sturm Graz – who are currently fourth in the ten-team Austrian Bundesliga – runs until summer 2011, but the deal features a clause giving Jantscher the opportunity to leave after this season.Sports paper Kicker reports interested clubs would have to spend less than one million Euros to sign the 21-year-old player. The paper also says that Borussia Mönchengladbach has targeted Red Bull Salzburg star Christoph Leitgeb. But Austrian media recently claimed the 24-year-old national team player wanted to extend his expiring contract with the league leaders. This comes just days after German press claimed Borussia Mönchengladbach wanted to sign Austrian Martin Harnik.Harnik, 22, is currently on loan to German second-league club Fortuna Düsseldorf after failing to make it into Werder Bremen’s starting eleven. He became a crucial part of the team’s line-up, and Austrian national team manager Dietmar Constantini got in touch again with Harnik after the striker was not called up for months.Harnik was part of Austria’s Euro2008 squad. He performed in all three group stage matches but failed to score.Sturm Graz defender Mario Sonnleitner is meanwhile linked to vice champions Rapid Vienna.Sonnleitner’s contract runs out this summer, and he has revealed plans to join a club abroad. This ambition could be put on hold if reports that Rapid bosses have made him an offer are true.Rumours say that Sonnleitner, 24, is to replace 26-year-old defender Hannes Eder who has criticised club bosses over not approaching him to negotiate an extension of his expiring contract.Second-placed Rapid recently lost in the bidding war for 21-year-old LASK Linz captain Georg Margreitter. The Under-21s national team defender will join archrivals Austria Vienna in summer.Austrian Bundesliga match action continues on Friday when SV Ried clash with Rapid.
