Two new candidates for Austrian football national team trainer

After it seemed certain that Franco Foda, 45, coach of Styrian football club Sturm Graz would become the new coach of the Austrian national football team, the Austrian Soccer Federation (ÖFB) held talks with two more candidates.

After former national team coach Dietmar Constantini resigned earlier this September and Foda seemed to be his chosen successor, it now emerged that the ÖFB held talks with the coach of the Upper Austrian football club Ried, Paul Gludovatz, 65, and German Eintracht Frankfurt team coach Christoph Daum, 57.

According to Austrian paper Kurier, Windtner secretly met experienced coach Gludovatz who had been a trainer for the ÖFB before.

German newspaper Bild reported that Christoph Daum too showed ÖFB president Leo Windtner, 61, his coaching concept in a restaurant in Going, Kitzbühel district, Tyrol, on Saturday night.

Bild quoted Windtner saying: „I don’t deny the meeting. It was not secret, we were seen by other people.”

The ÖFB want to present a new national team coach until November 18.
