I won more than I lost, says poker ace Becker

Tennis legend Boris Becker has claimed he had a positive balance since starting to play poker.”I won more money than I lost so far,” he claimed today (Weds).The German added: “But I won’t talk figures. Poker players don’t do that. They are a bit superstitious.”Becker, who quit professional tennis 11 years ago, is currently in Vienna to compete in the 500,000-Euro European Poker Tour (EPT) at the Kursalon Hübner palace which started yesterday.The 42-year-old revealed playing cards was a popular pastime during his active tennis career.The three-time Wimbledon champion said he saw many similarities between the two sports. “Tennis and poker players need great mental strength – and you certainly need a strategy,” he explained.It is the second time the former number one in world tennis has visited the Austrian capital this year. Becker and his wife Lilly Kerssenberg attended the 18th Vienna Life Ball. The AIDS/HIV awareness event netted 1.5 million donations for various national and international projects.
