Stankovic back in Austrian league after Italian adventure

Vice champions Austria Vienna said today (Fri) they had agreed with striker Marko Stankovic on a two-year deal.The 24-year-old Austrian joins the side coached by Karl Daxbacher from Italian Serie B club US Triestina.Stankovic, who performed for the Austrian national team once in a friendly against Turkey in November 2008 (2-4), played for Bundesliga club Sturm Graz between 2007 and 2009.Austria Vienna bosses hope Stankovic will be able to compensate the departure of Rubin Okotie who recently made clear he will leave the club.Champions Red Bull Salzburg meanwhile said midfielder Stefan Ilsanker and goalkeeper David Schartner will leave the club to join league rivals SV Mattersburg. The “Bulls” also announced they had signed German keeper Gerhard Tremmel from Energie Cottbus. Tremmel agreed to a one-year deal with Huub Stevens’ team.Rapid Vienna – who finished last season in third – said defender Christian Thonhofer will join Magna Wiener Neustadt on loan, while Tanju Kayhan rejoins the team. Kayhan was on loan with Magna for the second half of last season.Imre Szabics, who played for Sturm Graz for four years until 2003, will rejoin the club after having played for several clubs in Germany.
