Klien makes F1 comeback
Former Red Bull Racing pilot is to return to the Formula One as a test driver.Hispania Racing (HRT) officials said today (Weds) the 27-year-old from Hohenems in Vorarlberg province will be in the cockpit already in this Fridays first open training session for Sundays Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona.”Im fully aware that being the third in a team of three drivers of a racing stable expected to finish in the back end of the field is a small step. But its a step into the right direction,” Klien said.HRT boss Colin Kolles praised Klien for his “great potential”.Klien said: “My main aim is to get a foothold in the Formula One again.”Klien was driving for Jaguar and Red Bull between 2004 and 2006 before working as test and reserve driver for Honda and BMW Sauber. He garnered an overall 14 points in 46 World Championship starts.He won the 1,000 Kilometres of Spa race for Peugeot with his French teammates Simon Pagenaud and Nicolas Minassian last year.Klien hit the headlines when he slammed BMW Saubers new car as “the ugliest vehicle I have ever seen” in 2008.
