Strache called a ‘Nazi’ in video on SPÖ member’s blog

Freedom Party (FPÖ) general secretary Herbert Kickl has called for consequences after a rapper called FPÖ boss Heinz-Christian Strache a “monstrosity” in a clip discovered on the private homepage of an SPÖ official.Kickl announced today (Mon) he expected the incident to have consequences for the SPÖ member, while Heribert Donnerbauer of the People’s Party (ÖVP) – who form a coalition with the SPÖ – said he was “surprised” the video was put there.Donnerbauer appealed to the SPÖ board to find “clear words”.The video shows teenage Vienna-based hip hopper Big DnC calling Strache a “foreigner hater” and “scum” while he smashes a framed picture showing the opposition politician with a baseball bat.The clip also shows the kidnapping of a suit-wearing man who is then chained and forced to wear a clown mask, before Big DnC says: “Fuck Nazi Strache!”Right-winger Strache used a song called “HC Rap” in several past election campaigns in a bid to increase his high popularity among young voters.A spokesman for the SPÖ meanwhile stressed the video showing a Vienna-based rapper performing was “removed immediately” after party leaders were informed it was put on the SPÖ man’s blog. He added the party would like to “disassociate” itself from it.But he also stressed that the SPÖ had no influence on what party members publish on their private websites and their social network accounts.Strache, who took over the FPÖ in 2005 when late right-wing icon Jörg Haider left the party to found the Alliance for the Future of Austria (BZÖ), has caused public outcry with statements his critics branded “xenophobic”.The FPÖ overtook the Greens to come third in the 2008 general elections by winning 17.5 per cent, up by 6.5 per cent from their share in the 2006 vote.
