Second Miss Wiesn-Fest wanted
The preparations for the biggest Austrian Folk Festival “Wiesn-Fest”, which will take place for the third time on 19 September 2013 in Vienna Prater, are underway. Women from 18 to 45 can apply for the Miss Wiesn-Fest competition.
Last year, 37-year-old Martina from Vienna won the First Miss Wiesn-Fest contest against seven candidates. She describes it as “a successful mixture of traditions and modern lifestyle, connected with entertaining music and delicacies, amidst a country-style location and a wonderful atmosphere”.
The managing director of the Wiener Wiesn-Fest, Claudia Wiesner, said that the candidates should have “charm and heart, a soft spot for our beautiful traditional costumes, joie de vivre and a portion of Viennese humour”.
Those who think to be right for the contest and are from the age of 18 to 45, can apply online at www.wienerwiesnfest.at/wiesnmiss until 30 May 2013.
Each candidate will be taken into the online gallery and can be rated there. Eight women with the most “Likes” will compete at the Miss Wiesn-Fest in the nightclub “Bettel-Alm” on 6 June.
The winner will receive a sash, the title Miss Wiesn-Fest and other prizes. She will also get a place of honour at the official opening of the Wiesn-Fest on 19 September, VIP-tickets and will perform at side events.
The Miss contest is supported by the young Austrian costumes label “freiwild-design” and “Hair Affair”.
Austria’s largest folk festival focuses on folk music in three big tents and will last from 19 September to 6 October 2013.
