Plane lands in field after engine failure

A 26-year-old pilot had to carry out an emergency landing on a corn field when the engine of his small aircraft stopped working at an altitude of 2,000 metres.None of the five people on board were injured when the Cessna 182 touched down on an agricultural field near Gmunden, Upper Austria, yesterday (Sun). The group of friends, who took off in Kirchdorf, Tyrol, wanted to parachute before the technical problems occurred.The plane was seriously damaged in the incident.Earlier this month, a microlight aircraft caught fire after it had touched an overhead cable near Leogang, Salzburg. Both passengers of the Pionier 200 glider died in the accident.
