Italian races at 210 kph in Tyrol

An Italian driver has been caught doing more than 100 kilometres per hour (kph) above the speed limit. The 22-year-old from northern Italy had to hand over his licence after a radar trap recorded him as he bombed along a 100 kph limit stretch on Tyrol’s A13 Brenner motorway at 210 kph yesterday evening (Tues). Local traffic authorities announced today that the speeder was also fined 720 Euros. The regular motorway speed limit in Austria is 130 kph, but there are several 100 kph zones across the country. Most of these lower limit stretches are situated close to housing areas where soundproof barriers turned out to be an inefficient measure to block traffic noise.
