Demented pensioner survives night-time stroll
An elderly man survived several hours at subzero temperatures after going for a walk in the middle of the night.The dementia sufferer, 92, was reported as missing by staff at a retirement home in Haslach, Upper Austria, around 1am last night (Weds/Thurs). He was found by a police sniffer dog lying on an agricultural field wearing nothing but his pyjamas, slippers and a vest this morning.Doctors said today his condition is stable despite his body temperature dropped significantly while he was outside that night.Only some weeks ago, a 59-year-old woman was forced to spend a night in the open after a fall.Anna G. slipped and fell on the icy roads of Waldneukirchen near Steyr, Upper Austria, as she went for a walk in the evening. She did not manage to get up on her own. The woman was hospitalised after a neighbour, 82, found her the next morning.
