Bomb panic at district authority office

A district council building had to be evacuated after a man threw a parcel bomb into one of its rooms.The suspect was arrested after trying to flee the building in Horn, Lower Austria, this morning (Weds). Explosives experts found out that the bomb, hurled into a third-floor office from the hallway, was live and could have detonated.Officials did not reveal the arrested man’s identity as investigations into the background of the incident continue.The news comes just weeks after a blast master was found hoarding 20 kilos of explosives between bacon, jams and tins on shelves in the pantry of his home in Klagenfurt.The 54-year-old Carinthian’s house was searched after police received an anonymous tip-off. The man is allowed to possess explosives due to his profession but may now face consequences for improper storage.
