Paton snubs Wacker opportunity

Scottish striker Michael Paton will not join Austrian Bundesliga club Wacker Innsbruck, according to reports from today (Thurs).Press and newspaper claims that the 21-year-old decided to battle for his place in the starting eleven of Scottish Premier League (SPL) side Aberdeen FC despite having spent a week-long trial at Wacker earlier this month.The daily Aberdeen-based newspaper reports that Paton considered his chances of staying at his club have risen due to the recent change in management from Mark McGhee to Craig Brown. Aberdeen FC finished the 18-team SPL in ninth last season.Wacker, who are managed by former Austrian national team defender Walter Kogler, are currently sixth in the 10-team Bundesliga after having led the table for several weeks early into the season.
