Massive heroin haul in Salzburg

Three people have been arrested after six kilos of heroin were found in their car.Salzburg police announced today (Thurs) officers discovered around six kilograms of the drug as well as antiques and coins of unclear origin during a traffic check on Tuesday.The discovered heroin had a street sale value of around 800,000 Euros, they said.Two men and a woman of Turkish background living in Berlin have been put in custody. Authorities suspect the trio of having planned to sell the drugs in the German capital.The arrests come just days after Carinthian custom officials reported one of the biggest illegal cigarettes haul so far this year.Provincial authorities said earlier this month custom officers found around 900 packets of smuggled cigarettes in a glass wool-transporting van during checks on the A2 southern motorway.The vehicle’s driver and one passenger – both from the Ukraine – are in custody.
