A 55-year-old hiker is recovering in an Upper Austrian clinic after she suffered a cramp and passed out yesterday (Tues). The woman from Attersee was hiking across the Sonnstein Mountain near Traunkirchen in Upper Austria’s Gmunden district when she suddenly suffered a cramp in her leg. Her pals said she collapsed and fell unconscious within minutes. An emergency doctor and a team of paramedics had to walk up some hundred metres to reach the injured woman as the medic chopper could not land in the pathless environment where the incident occurred. They carried her into the town centre with a stretcher where the helicopter was waiting causing traffic on the main road in Traunkirchen to came to a halt for around two hours.
