‘Forest cash hunter’ arrested

A man caught on CCTV looking for hidden cash in a forest near Niklasdorf, Styria, has been tracked down by police.Chief investigator Karl Köck said the 45-year-old man told officers he had pocketed 100,000 Euros in a business deal before quitting his job at a Kapfenberg-based company. The suspect claimed he buried 70,500 Euros after panicking when his former boss launched a probe into past company activities after finding out about illicit handlings.Köck said the man – who is in custody – faces further interviews as only 59,400 Euros were found in the hideaway last month.Investigations were intensified after a CCTV camera set up to observe wildlife activities in the area caught the man crawling around the forest apparently looking for something.
