Main ‘torched prostitute’ suspect not caught, say police

Police have dismissed reports that a major prostitution Mafia player accused of torching a prostitute has been arrested.Viennese investigators announced today (Thurs) that the man caught in the Dutch city of Amsterdam earlier this week was not Romanian Adrian Bogdan Negrei but his cousin Nico Negrei.Police said the main suspect of the incident in front of a Viennese night club three weeks ago – which left Romanian prostitute Florentina M., 35, with third degree burns – was still on the run. Reports have it that he recently went to a clinic in Amsterdam for treatment of a stabbing wound. The 29-year-old man nicknamed “Cretu” lived in the Dutch capital for several months and also served a jail term there before moving to Vienna.His cousin Nico Negrei is suspected of being involved in the attack on the prostitute outside the “Fantastic” night club in Vienna too. An argument over the amount of protection money the woman paid to the men is believed to be the reason for the incident.Nico Negrei is in custody in Amsterdam, and Dutch officials are in touch with Austrian police over extraditing him.
