Supertramp to rock Vienna

Progressive rock icons Supertramp will perform in Vienna as part of their Greatest Hits Tour, it has been announced today (Thurs).Britishrock.cc reports that the British band, which was founded in 1969, are set to rock the Stadthalle Vienna on 8 September.The band, who celebrated worldwide hits with songs such as “The Logical Song”, “Breakfast in America” and “It’s Raining Again”, reunited in 1996 after having split up in 1988. The band dissolved again after releasing their 13th studio album “Slow Motion” in 2002.Founder Rick Davies has acted as front man and singer since Roger Hodgson’s departure in 1983.Roger Hodgson, who performed a one-off concert in Vienna last year, is meanwhile set to hit the stage at the 2010 Donauinselfest. The three-day Vienna event, which is set to take place from 25 June, is the biggest free of charge outdoor music event in Europe. Billy Idol, Right Said Fred and Adam Green will co-headline the festival.It was also announced today that American rock band Alter Bridge will give two concerts in Austria this November. The band fronted by former The Mayfield Four singer Myles Kennedy will perform at Vienna’s Gasometer on 22 November before playing the Posthof in Linz on 27 November.Other eagerly awaited concerts are the performances of Whitney Houston (Stadthalle Vienna, 19 May), Rod Stewart (Stadthalle Vienna, 27 June) and U2 (Ernst Happel Stadium Vienna, 20 August).
