Construction costs jump

Road construction costs have soared by more than three per cent.Statistik Austria announced today (Mon) roadwork was 3.6 per cent more expensive last month compared to the same month of last year because of high costs of raw material (month on month rise: 0.3 per cent).The state agency added the costs of bridge building activities rose by five per cent from October 2009 to October 2010 and by 0.3 per cent from September of this year to the following month.It said the costs of flat construction increased as well year on year (3.2 per cent) but stayed at the same level from September 2010 to October 2010.These findings come shortly after Porr, Austria’s second-biggest building firm, said it suffered a 3.9 per cent decline of value of its building activity to 2.04 billion Euros in the first three quarters of this year compared to the same time span of 2009.The Vienna-based company added the value of incoming assignments plunged by 18 per cent year on year to 1.76 billion Euros.
