Banja Luka – Vienna service to start next month

B&H Airlines will offer flights between Banja Luka and Vienna from next month.The aviation company, which was founded as Air Bosna in 1994, announced today (Thurs) it will start offering two connections per week between Bosnia and Herzegovina’s second largest city and the Austrian capital from 31 October.B&H Airlines added it also won the rights to commence flights on the Sarajevo – Zurich route and between Banja Luka and Frankfurt.Local media claim that the firm planned to axe its service between Banja Luka and the Macedonian capital Skopje in order to focus on service to Vienna, Zurich and Frankfurt.The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina holds a 50.93 per cent interest in B&H Airlines.The airline’s announcements follow news that Air Berlin will offer two instead of one daily flight from Salzburg Airport to the German capital Berlin from December.The German company – which cooperates with Austrian budget carrier FlyNiki – also presented two new connections with four weekly flights each to the German city of Hanover and to London-Stansted. Air Berlin said these flights will also operate from December, adding that tickets were already on sale at www.airberlin.com.Air Berlin is Germany’s second biggest airline after Lufthansa. It increased its interest in Vienna-based FlyNiki by 25.9 per cent to 49.9 per cent in February.
