Construction sites in Vienna during Easter Holidays
Several streets of Vienna will be rehabilitated during the Easter Holidays. The construction site at Wiedner Gürtel was opened yesterday (Mon). There will be traffic obstructions in the next few days.
Construction works started at Wiedner Gürtel (Argentinierstrasse) in the direction of Matzleinsdorfer Platz. There will be only one lane for a week; however, the second lane will be opened on Easter Sunday. Three lanes will presumably be finished on 12 April.
The cause for the construction works was a pipe burst in October 2012, which led to the necessary restoration of the street surface.
Due to potholes, there are construction works at Rechte Wienzeile from Getreidemarkt to Operngasse, which will finish at the end of the Easter Holidays. The construction site has already been established, which means that there are only two free lanes.
Another construction site will be set up at Franz Josef-Kai during the Easter Holidays. Renovation of the roads at the bridges Marienbrbrücke and Aspernbrücke are planned. Due to low temperatures, construction works have not started yet.
Drivers also have to compromise a little at the crossroads Linke Wienzeile/Gürtel: due to construction works on tracks of the tramlines 6 an 18 at the upcoming weekend, traffic is being diverted in the direction of Westausfahrt to Gürtel. These construction works have already started last Friday.
