Sebastian Stoss to go to London Olympics

Austrian swimmer Sebastian Stoss has qualified for the Olympic games to be held in London this summer.

The 26-year-old swimmer from Vienna currently swims for the Eisenstadt Swimming Club.

The backstroke specialist had originally not reached the internationally necessary qualification time, but as the Austrian team was not able to fill its start places with people under this time, Stoss was chosen as the next best time swimmer and will now compete in the 200 metre backstroke.

The Austrian Olympic Committee has to officially nominate its athletes by Friday.

Alongside Stoss, breaststroke swimmer Hunor Mate has also guaranteed himself a start place.

Stoss took part in the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and came 19th in his competition.
