Teacher runs 782 km in seven days

A teacher has set a new ultra running record by covering nearly 800 kilometres (km) in a week.Secondary modern school teacher Franz Sack from Frauenkirchen in Burgenland ran 782 kilometres on a one-kilometre circular course in his hometown during the past seven days. Sack said ahead of the challenge that he wanted to cover more than 1,000 kilometres within one week. He nevertheless improved the Austrian record in ultra running by 81 kilometres.Sack was accompanied by Martina Schmidt from Lower Austria. She achieved a new national best for women by running 511 kilometres in seven days – 200 kilometres more than the previous record.The extreme running enthusiasts were accompanied by dozens of hobby athletes and local politicians. Participators and spectators were asked to donate for a local centre for people with mental and physical disabilities. Around 3,000 Euros were raised in the event which will take place again next year.
