Styrian solar expert bags Arizona orders

A Styrian company specialised in solar energy generation has received assignments worth 17.4 million Euros overall from businesses and town halls overseas.Graz-based Solid GmbH said today (Fri) it will install solar-powered heating and cooling systems at a school, a hotel and seven prisons in the US state of Arizona. It is not the first time for the firm – which has a subsidiary company in Phoenix, Arizona – to win orders in the United States.Meanwhile, shrinking turnover has forced Sattledt-based solar technology company SOLution Solartechnik (SOLution) into bankruptcy. The firm said last month that an “unforeseeable” decrease in turnover and fewer subsidies for renewable energy models were the main aspects of its insolvency.SOLution has debts of 3.7 million Euros, according to the Austrian Creditors’ Protection Association of 1870 (KSV 1870).
