Strache sees sex discrimination in ministry’s Valentine’s Day gifts

Freedom Party (FPÖ) chief Heinz-Christian Strache is outraged over “gender disparities” at the defence ministry after female employees were given flower seeds on Valentine’s Day.The opposition right-winger asked Social Democratic (SPÖ) Defence Minister Norbert Darabos in an official enquiry: “Does work by male staff count for less at your ministry?”Darabos yesterday (Mon) hit back at Strache, saying: “The custom of giving flowers on Valentine’s Day, especially to women, is a tradition that has grown throughout history.”Darabos rubbished Strache’s claims the act would lead to the “vilification of men” working for the defence ministry.
