Heather Mills suffers ski crash

Heather Mills had to be hospitalised with a serious shoulder injury after suffering a skiing accident, it has emerged.The former model – who split from pop icon Paul McCartney after a six-year marriage in 2008 – crashed on a slope on the Mölltaler glacier in Carinthia yesterday (Weds), according to local media. Reports have it that she sustained a severe shoulder injury.A spokesman for a clinic in Lienz, East Tyrol, confirmed that the animal rights campaigner was hospitalised at the facility. “What she needs the most now is to relax and find some peace and quiet,” he explained.Officials did not reveal when the 42-year-old could be discharged as Austrian newspapers are speculating she may be transferred to the United Kingdom for further treatment and rehab shortly.Mills has spent most of the past months in the Austrian Alps to prepare for the 2014 Winter Paralympics. The ambitious skier – who lost part of her left leg in a traffic accident in 1993 – hopes to be nominated for the British team of athletes competing in the events set to take place in Sochi, Russia.Her strict training regime was interrupted only last January when she crashed skiing at around 100 kilometres per hour (kph) in a 24-hour charity race.Recent reports by newspapers in her homeland had it that she splashed around 1.6 million Euros on a chalet at Lake Millstatt (Millstätter See), Carinthia.
