Tichy reveals new summer ice creams

Legendary Viennese ice cream parlour Tichy has presented caramel-whisky and chocolate mousse with oranges as its two new varieties for this summer. The company – which was founded in 1952 and relocated to Favoriten district’s Reumann Square three years later – is year for year competing with several Italian firms for the unofficial title of the most popular ice cream parlour of the capital. It has to be seen whether Tichy can succeed with its two new creations since Austrians seem to be rather conservative when it comes to ice cream. Research conducted last year showed that strawberry and vanilla are people’s most favourite flavours.Tichy is well known for inventing the Eismarillenknödel (ice apricot dumplings) in 1967.The family business is run by second generation boss Kurt Tichy junior.
