Halloween means pumpkin fun for Viennas elephants

Vienna Schönbrunn zoo will be celebrating Halloween as part of their golden autumn festival running from 20 October to 1 November.

On offer for visitors will be the opportunity for kids to build Halloween decorations, organic products will be on sale and special workshops are also being arranged for the kids.

In the zoo’s elephant park there is a special offer for visitors small and large as the elephants are particular fans of the pumpkin season.

Children are allowed to help keepers prepare the elephants favourite food – the pumpkin – filling it with Apple’s and carrot pieces.

For the parents there is the opportunity to visit the market stall of lower Austrian organic farmer Karl Zwickl  selling apples, pears and other domestic treats such as marmalade, apple bread and fruit juices.

Anybody interested in the pumpkin for animals workshop – it takes place on 20.,21.,26.,27. and 28. October between 13.00 and 15.30. It costs €16 per child including infants and if the child needs someone to be with them they need to be registered by calling 1/877 92 94 – 500.
