Firebug was fireman say police

A trainee firemen, 16, has admitted starting several blazes at Kirchdorf an der Krems in Upper Austria because he enjoyed the thrill of being involved in the emergency call to extinguish the fires.

He was caught because police became suspicious after he was the one that discovered most of the fires.

The fires had started on 19 April in a waste paper container at a school and that was followed five days later by a fire on a building site, followed by a blaze in another waste paper bin – and then at least three other fires.

He has now been fired from the fire brigade and will be charged with arson.

Police said no-one was hurt in the blazes.
