Seven injured in apartment blaze

 Seven people have been injured in a fire in Hainburg, Austria, yesterday (Thurs) evening. The blaze began on the first floor of an apartment block, the reasons for which are not yet clear.

More than 50 fire fighters came to put out the flames coming from a first floor apartment with support from 20 paramedics, doctors and police.

As a result of the large amount of smoke, 20 residents were evacuated from the building and five children and two firemen were taken to hospital in Hainburg and treated for smoke inhalation.

The firemen fought to prevent the flames from reaching other apartments and after two hours managed to extinguish the blaze. According to police, the affected apartment is severely damaged but the reasons for the fire are not yet known. Investigations will begin today (Fri).
