Yamaha biker does 300 kph

A motorcyclist will have to do without a licence for months after being caught going 300 kilometres per hour (kph).

The 30-year-old was stopped by a traffic policeman after a radar trap positioned on the A1 western motorway near Sattledt revealed his offence yesterday afternoon (Weds).

The man, whose 23-year-old girlfriend was his pillion passenger, admitted having been aware he was going too fast. The speeder explained he was in a rush to make an appointment in Linz, Upper Austria. The Yamaha bike belongs to a friend of the traffic rules offender, according to a local newspaper.

The man’s licence was confiscated. He is bracing himself for a fine of several thousand Euros as the speed limit on highways in Austria is 130 kph.
