Salzburg police catch German speeder

A German lost his licence for racing at nearly 190 kilometres per hour (kph) on a motorway in Salzburg yesterday evening (Tues).Traffic police in Zederhaus said today the 56-year-old from Ravensburg was stopped on the A10 Tauern motorway for going at 189 kph in a 100 kph limit zone.The general speed limit on Austrian highways is 130 kph. However, there are some 100 kph zones and 80 kph stretches near housing areas and roadwork sites.Only last Friday, an Austrian had to hand over his driving licence for bombing along the A5 northern motorway in the Lower Austrian district of Mistelbach at 213 kph.
