Hungarian dies after ski crash

A skier from Hungary died of multiple internal injuries after plunging off a descent in a Carinthian winter sports resort.The 38-year-old Sopron resident landed in a safety net after falling off a cliff at the Mölltaler glacier near Spittal an der Drau on Friday. Mountain rescuers – who reached the site of the incident in little time – transferred the man to a clinic in Klagenfurt where he passed away on the same day.Around 60,000 skiers and snowboarders are hospitalised across Austria every winter. The Austrian Committee for Alpine Safety (KfAS) recently announced that 30 people died on pistes in the country’s mountains between 1 November 2010 and 27 February this year.
