German police arrest Austrian over drug stash

An Austrian travelling on a coach from London to Budapest has been put in custody in Germany after police discovered drugs in his luggage.Officials in Deggendorf in the German state of Bavaria announced today (Mon) that the 25-year-old man from Linz in Upper Austria was on a coach connecting the capitals of Great Britain and Hungary. They added the man was arrested after around 500 grams of marijuana were discovered in plastic bags hidden in the bottom of his suitcase by sniffer dogs.The news comes just days after a 28-year-old Austrian resident of Freyung in Bavaria was put in custody after 60 cannabis plants and more than one kilogram of hashish were found in his cellar.Consuming, growing and selling cannabis are criminal offences in Germany and Austria.
