Diplomats off sick most often, study shows

United Nation (UN) officials and diplomats working in Austria have the highest number of sick leave days, it has been revealed.Figures presented by Austrian health insurance officials today (Weds) show that officials employed at the UN’s Vienna headquarters and at the Vienna-based Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) took an average 39.3 off days due to sicknesses in 2008.The 3.07 million Austrian workers and clerks were just 12.6 days off sick in the same year, the report shows.The job group with the second-highest amount of sick leave days that year are security staffers with 17.8 days.Health officials also pointed out that the number of people off work for depression and burnout soared by 184.5 per cent to 2.4 million days from 1991 to 2008.
