Kids taught luck in schools

An Austrian pilot project to teach “luck” to students in classes in the southern province of Styria is now to be expanded across the country after it was hailed as a success in making kids happier and feeling better about themselves.

Teachers are already starting to get training in how to teach the lessons in the subject of luck that involves teaching pupils how to get the most out of life and how to feel happy as well as personal development.

Teachers are also expected to teach the kids about being realistic, how to cooperate with others to get the most out of life, motivating themselves and having a positive attitude. All things that will help them to enjoy more luck.

And teachers that have so far taken part have claimed the lessons have also bought them luck by encouraging a new approach.

The initiator of the project Margot Maass said: “We want to encourage a new approach on behalf of the kids but also on behalf of the schools. It’s high time that schools were no longer seen as things to be afraid of or to avoid.”

When the project was started in Styria in 2009 it was only offered in six schools, but by now that has already expanded to 130 schools in the region. Now it will be available Austria wide.
