Legendary studio’s archives opened for upcoming photo exhibit

More than 100 photographs from the archive of one of Vienna’s most renowned studios will be on display at the city’s WestLicht (www.westlicht.com) gallery from next week.Organisers of the “Photo Simonis” exhibit said today (Thurs) the archive material of the studio of the same name was rescued when the company stopped doing business in 2005. The Austrian National Library (ÖNB) took over the stock featuring thousands of negative images and photos. For decades dozens of famous actors and singers as well as politicians went to “Photo Simonis” to have their portrait pictures taken. The 120 photographs on display at the venue in Neubau district from 8 June until 31 July reflect life in Austria in the 1960s and 1970s.
