Austrian culture festival opens in Osijek

A three-day event promoting Austrian culture opened at the Archaeological Museum of Osijek, Croatia, yesterday (Thurs).Organizers of the Austrian Cultural Forum Festival are the Croatian-Austrian Association in Osijek, the Austrian Cultural Forum and their partners in both countries. They said the event’s purpose was to promote artistic dialogue between Croatia and Austria.Croatian Times quotes Jan Kickert, Austrian Ambassador to Croatia, as saying he was pleased that around 50 artists and 10 partner organisations from different sectors of the world of art would contribute to the convergence of two national cultures.Osijek Deputy Mayor Ivan Vrdoljak said the city of Osijek had a rich cultural tradition manifested in numerous cultural events that gave the city a European touch.Croatian-Austrian Association head Maja Ivanovic added it was the first time Austrian culture was being represented as an entity in Croatia.The event features exhibitions, films, plays and promotion of Austrian literature at several locations in Osijek.
