Regional airline Air Alps is to be liquidated
The regional airline Air Alps is to be liquidated.
In November flights between Bolzano and Rome were cancelled. Since then they have been trying to attract an investor but this has not been possible the airline announced today.
The Austria South Tyrol regional airline is head quartered in Innsbruck, Austria.
Over the past months there has been talks with the Russian investor group REFCA as well as other interested parties from EU countries.
Welcome Air Chef Manfred Helldoppler said: “Together with Air Alps we have been working together to fund a solution and attract a new partner and new business ideas. However as none of the potential investors were able to present a successful concept we do not see any possibility of being able to restart the airline.”
In total 18 employees are affected in Austria. The Tyrol Air Ambulance is to take half of the employees.
Dr. Günther Gast, Director of Air Alps Aviation said: “Just as we did with the Italien employees we are workign to come to an agreement with the employees.”
The liquidation will not have an effect on the parent company Welcome Air or the affiliated company Tyrol Air Ambulance.
