Biggest resort in Croatia opened by Falkensteiner

The 160 million Euros worth Falkensteiner Punta Skala Resort in Petrcani near Zadar (northern Dalmatia) has opened doors to tourists after eight years of construction, writes the daily Slobodna Dalmacija.

The resort is the Austrian company Falkensteiner Michaeler Tourism Group AG’s biggest Croatian project that took eight years to complete, although parts of it have been in operation since several years.

The five-star Falkensteiner Hotel&Spa Iadare and the four-star Family Hotel Diadora built on the premises of the resort together make up the most upscale hotel offer in the Zadar area, writes the daily.

In addition to the hotels there are apartments for sale and rent, numerous pools, restaurants and wellness facilities.  The company’s owner Erich Falkensteiner said that the resort offers will make the Zadar area attractive to tourists beyond the standard summer season and into the winter months.

Just months after the opening, Iadera hotel was listed amongst the Leading Hotels of the World.

Punta Skala resort is envisioned to have an independent water and energy supply system, writes Slobodna Dalmacija. For example, the water is pumped from the sea, desalinized and later used for drinking and other needs.
