Ottakringer output stable

Viennese brewery Ottakringer AG achieved a turnover beyond 45 million Euros in the first quarter of this year.The company said today (Thurs) it managed to improve its turnover from 34.39 million Euros between January and March 2010 to 45.45 million Euros in the same time span of 2011. However, Ottakringer pointed out that its turnover rose by just two per cent if the effects of various recent consolidation measures were taken into account.The firm sold 148,034 hectolitres of beer in the first three months of 2011, up by 0.4 per cent to the same period of last year. This output means that Ottakringer remains to be one of the country’s most popular breweries.Ottakringer which subsidises Austrian Football Bundesliga club Rapid Vienna and sponsors various music events – decided to jack up the price for its 0.5-litre product by two Eurocents two months ago due to rising production process expenditures.The brewery merged with leading mineral water maker Vöslauer two years ago.Austrians consume an average 110 litres of beer per year. Only Czechs guzzle more with a per capita consumption of 154 litres.
